There is something about the way my friends from home will unknowingly show up at my house just to look through my closet that brings me comfort. The way they call my mom, mom because they have made such a bond with my family. The way I will look over at their phones and they will be texting my mom back and forth all day long. The way we have to harass Kiana to wake up in order to make our day plans. The way Emily texts me everyday for our morning coffees. The way Lexi packs a bag to basically live out of my house for a couple days just for fun. The way Madison’s kitchen is home base for the best girl night talks. The way Simone is down for quite literally any adventure. The way Maddie gets home on leave from the Air Force and we all rally around her for the limited time she has.
Being at school the past couple weeks has been amazing, don't get me wrong, but it has made me cherish my friendships back at home. I think there is an undenying loyalty and love your friends from childhood have for you that no other bond can recreate. This doesn't take away from new friendships now, it is just simply different, and that's okay.
The unknown is really scary to me and I try to seek comfort in any form I can. Undoubtedly, every time I need to feel more at home, I will talk to one of these girls. I think sometimes friendships are a part of life we unknowingly take for granted. We have to truly take a step back and realize what great form of love is in front of us. Sometimes I am on autopilot and will call or text them with news, or an issue I need advice on and I will forget that I am so lucky to have such people in my life to help me and be there for me. To celebrate my every success, and to cry with me on my every failure.
Moral of the story is, it's the little idiosyncrasies in friendships that makes it so pure. So again, I can’t wait to go home and have my friends unknowingly show up at my house just to look through my closet.
